Posting a Gallery Picture in the Forum

Very quick guide to posting gallery pictures to the forum:

  1. Browse to the photo you want to put onto the forum - if you haven't yet uploaded the photo you want to post, read this first

  2. Click in the BBCode text box which corresponds to the size of image you want (if you're not sure, use just BBCode, not BBCode Full Size)

  3. Your browser will automatically select the entire contents of the box

  4. Right click and choose Copy from the popup menu

  5. When posting a new message or reply, right click in the message entry area and choose Paste from the popup menu

  6. The picture BBCode will then be pasted into the entry area

  7. Finish off your message as normal, press Submit and... tada!

Si's going to Banjul or Bust, I am going to put a picture in the comments section or BUST Evil or Very Mad

First question, is where do you browse from to get the very first instruction as in 2? Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad to get this silly BBCODE, no count to 10 and stay calm 1, 2, 3, 4 Big Cry

Click on the thumbnail of the picture you want to view to view the picture then its near the bottom of the page

So to insert this picture:

Click on Gallery > Member Galleries > the picture above Martin > the picture again > then the actual picture you want to view and you'll see the BBCode on the page

Right, to post pictures from your Personal Gallery

  1. First, switch to the gallery

  2. Then select "Member Galleries"

  3. If you can't see you on Page 1, switch to another page (BN you're on Page 2)

  4. Click the picture above your username

  5. Click on the picture corresponding to the album within your gallery the picture is in (BN you've only got one!)

  6. Select the individual photo

  7. This will then show the picture preview, with the BBCode section below it (along with the file size, dimensions, comments etc).

  8. Then continue on from Step 2 above Smile

Note: You can short-cut straight a picture from any "Recent Photos" or "Random Selection" list by clicking on it:

Martin, I found the guide useful. Thanks

One question though. If photos are included in the thread, do they increase the down-load time by much. Just a thought that if it's done too often those folk who don't have Broadband may get cheesed off if it slows things down too much.

Hi Coffeecup,

Having photos in-line in the thread obviously will increase the download time for a thread, but the text will usually load completely before the pictures, but I do appreciate that lots of photos will make the site totally unusable for dial-up users. So far everyone's being fairly sensible and using the galleries to store photos and then linking to them, or only posting a couple of photos per topic - good lads Wink

Also there is a script in place on the site which reduces the filesize of photos posted on the forum to speed up downloads generally, and using the BBCode text from the Gallery will ensure that a reasonable sized photo appears instead of an enormous one.

But it is a good point - try not to post loads and loads of photos in a topic - instead link to a gallery directly (or say 'look in my gallery') instead Smile

No, not at all, don't slow down, that's not what I meant - just be sensible (I know, tricky!) and try not to post 50 pictures on the forum in one go or something daft.

I'm very pleased you've sorted out posting pics at long last, must find you another challenge! Wink

OK, the first to post 50 photos, no I was only joking Simons, all of you. Martin no more challenges just yet, trying to get over Billing and finding that 10forcash is actually a really nice guy, great family too. Bit worried about that lump under his left arm and the leather straps around his chest though, it was not a magnum ice cream. Just joking '10'
