rear upper arms, how many manhours to change?
as title says, bushings on my rear upper arms are shot. Ordered a kit at AF, how many man hours does it roughly take to change these out?www.skienklinikk.no

Have just done mine.
I replaced ARB drop links and brake lines and some corrosion proofing at the same time though, so not sure how much time they'd take on their own.
Maybe 4 hours.
I had to sand off the paint, and a bit of the metal on the AF kit (RRS Eurospare arms...seem to have some OEM LR bushes though, and Borg & Beck bolt kit) as the 'cam' bolt to the knuckle bushing was too big. Was too big had I been able to reuse the original bolts also.
I did have a delay as I ran out of reciprocating blades cutting through one of the bolts.
You have to split the brake lines to get the arms changed, so it seemed a good time to replace the hoses and lines.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Watched Geoff. do both mine in under two hours!! Only the arms though. He had very good reciprocating saw blades from US that got through the bolts with ease though
Do get two new metal brake pipes that go between the two flexible hoses on the arm, will save lots of grief and swearing and time and......

I reckon I could do them in 2-3 hours the second time around, but I'm assuming the OP will be doing it for the first time, hence the question. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Didn't see a specific thread; there's bits and bobs about it on the forum.
It isn't a particularly complex job, except for actually getting the bolts out.
I found 18, 21 and 24mm ring spanners and some 2ft scaffold & slightly bigger (helpfully some offcuts of pipe left by the Forestry Commission) to give extra leverage really helped.
Only fully tighten the bolts once the car is level and on its wheels.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

hi highlands
many thks for the reply
did also see that the metal brake pipes and hoses should be done at the same time
bet it's hard getting to the bolts when the wheels are back after fitting the new wishbones , do u put it into off road height in order u can get the spanners on them plse
seems from other threads that getting RRS wishbones is the way to go
strange as if i put mine into access mode u can feel the movement in the bushes , put it into normal height and can't feel it
finding this a very interesting thread , inc having to measure the bolts before removing them, then a 4 x wheel alignment after
so do the bolts seize up inside the metal collars of the bushes which makes them hard to remove plse
thks again
