Hi Everyone.
This is the most fantastic site ever! I have just sold my trusty RR P38 and bought an 05 TDV6 SE, and in the last few days, i have learned a massive amount of stuff about my D3 from this site.
I look forward to much jolly banter, learning, and hopefully helping others. Some of the guys that post to this site are very knowlegeable, and a fantastic asset to this site.
Must go and grab the keys... i need another fix!

Hi all,
Just joined.
After a few years in the wilderness, I have just bought a TDv6 GS in Stornaway Grey.
Very nice, though the spec could have been a bit more! (No aux input for iPod etc for example..)

Welcome Denny & Sparkie
Use site search "+ipod" which will bring up many ways of getting your tunes into your new car.
Great thing about these D3's - so easy to upgrade.

Hi all, Have just recently joined, am 18 and my parents are going throught the process of buying me a disco 3 have had my eye on one for a bit now and now looking forward to getting one. Can anyone suggest a model that would be right, i dont feel that the HSE will be worth it that much seen as though theyre some £15k more list price! will be doing some serious off roading, but considering getting a manual as i love ragging the gears. People however have reccomended i get an automatic if i will be going off road as people have been burning out their clutches because they keep slipping them, they say that you can have more control in an auto. Any suggestions?
Anyway hope to be leaving more comments on here in the future and sharing my enjoyment of a disco 3 soon!
Lloyd

Mum and dad going to pay for the repairs too? Carbon footprint? I neither know nor give a damn

Auto. One of the more common debates on here. Black or Silver, Auto or Manual
I prefer auto for a car of this size, bit it's a personal preference. There's no right or wrong answer to this one. Carbon footprint? I neither know nor give a damn

You lucky bastard.....
You mentioned 'list price'...by this I assume that your parents are buying you a brand new one???
Seriously though....at your age I'd get an S/SE manual and learn to drive it....then when you reach the giddy heights of 25 and get fat, lazy and old (like most of us on here), ask them to buy you an HSE auto....
As ND says, the auto is fantastic both on and off-road, but I personally can't see it fitting in with the driving habits of an 18 year old.
Black looks cooler, but if you're going to be 'ragging it' and scratching the hell out of it (and heaven forbid, pay for repairs yourself), then a light colour will be better. White actually looks fantastic on a D3 and you can't see the bramble rash. You should also know that the idea of 'ragging' a 45 grand diesel engined car is a bit worrying...
Joking apart, welcome to the site.....I have a feeling you may end up being the youngest owner on the site. 2006 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue
2007 Golf GT DSG
1990 Audi 90 2.2E Sport 5-cyl Tornado Red

lol, potentially a new one but i doubt it! more like to be a second hand one but we shall see... when i say 'ragging it' i mean like serious off roading, not like the typical 18 year old 'racer or chav' that is typically a bit of a speed freak, otherwise i would have asked my parents to buy me a bmw or something simmilar! lol think i may aim to get a black one or gun metal grey one... but zenmatt silver is looking likely. Really? i would have thought that there may have been kids of a simmilar age with a disco 3 too on this forum...oh well i can always be the first!
joking apart landys are like the gods!
hope to chat more to you guys
