| Greetings from the Sultanate of Oman |
|
Hello from sunny Oman ...
I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading for a while. I'll be taking delivery of my new LR3 V8 on Thursday having been convinced by much of what I've read here. Having owned Defenders and a Disco 2 in the past, and not wanting to scratch up a Range Rover, I figured the LR3 was the ideal choice.
So I'm dead excited!!!
And yes - get the tire pressures way down for sand driving - simple, but makes the world of difference and gives the gadgets a fighting chance. Oh, and don't stop!
Now, where to look for other driving tips and how to take advantage of all the cool technology under the hood?

Just popped in to say Hi. All being well I'll be picking up my D3 tomorrow. Trading in a Def 90XS on a 57 plate for a D3 also on a 57 plate. Buckingham Blue, cloth interior, auto. Looking forward to the drive home.
Just need some seat covers and a towbar. Where's the naughty corner?

Hi everyone, I'm Geoff and I hail from Townsville. I own a Disco2 2oo2 se with just a few modifications, and recently bought a series 3 Tdv6 se. I have just completed a 6,500klm trip to darwin for the v8 supercars, and returned via the gulf. What a fantastic trip. The series3 was great. It will be getting the computer remapped when it has a few more klms on the clock.

Welcome Geoff
6,500km trip, lots of dirt roads, no problems, no issues; as it should be D3 reliability. Getting there is half the fun

Hi all,
Great forum and loads of usefull stuff. I have had my vehicle for 2 years now and have done 74k km in absolute comfort! Only real issue has been suspension going up and down on its own when in trafic, but this was sorted with new height sensors. Only other problem is wrong tyres! After 30k km the goodyear were down to the canvas and rubber was coming off in chunks. I ordered Cooper ATR's in 255/65 R17 and when they arrived just before my Christmas holiday trip (4000km including some moderate off road), they had delivered 235/65 R17 I had no choice but to take them as there was nothing else in the right size. So now Ive lost an inch of clearnce and it is crap in the soft sand At ZAR10,000 for new set Ill get shot at dawn for buying before these have worn out, and whats worse they seem to be lasting forever. great tyres though, will buy em again in the right size, couldnt even scratxh em em riding nasty rocky tracks. Anyone in Sa want these with 50% tread left?.... Of course we'll make it... were in a landy!

I have been reading this site ever since ordering my new Disco 3 and now I have taken delivery and put a few thousand miles on the clock I thought I may as well register. Just need to say that after 5000 miles including a 2500 mile round trip to the south of France via Provence on the way back I am knocked out by just how good the Disco 3 is. Having previously owned a Disco 2 and before that an origonal 200 TDi the Disco 3 is the best by far, really, by a VERY long way...
