Chrome Mirror caps.....
Bought myself a cheap set of chrome mirror caps of Fleabay, certainly not genuine LR ones, thought I had had a bargain
However they came with so little 3M backing tape that it didn't even stand proud of the ridges on the inside of the mirror caps, and they wouldn't stick on. So I sent off twelve quid to Carmatrix in Germany for some more 3M tape (couldn't find anyone in UK selling it, surely someone must???).
They are on now but still dont feel very secure, I am almost considering a couple of small chrome headed self tappers for each through into the mirror housing. Anyone found a better way to do this

As above, Tigerseal or black Sikaflex adhesive. I bought the stuff that is optionaly supplied with the genuine parts from Nick. Expensive but cheaper than them falling off or being stolen.

I've fitted two pairs of these recently. Onre to a disco 3 and the other to a FFRR.
They don't have the same rounded edge at the ends as the OEM one's do, but still at less that a third of the OEM price they aren't bad.
The LR OEM one's require to be bonded on with Sikoflex, Polyurethane Sealant.
Have a look for Roberlo RPS45 1K polyurethane sealant. ?I got my last tube for £5.50 from local automotive paint suppliers.
One thing i did do though, was to clean the outside upper door mirror cap with some economy 2k thinners, to remove any polish residue etc. The 2k thinner slightly bites into the plastic caps, but aids the sticking, bonding of the sealant.ATB
