Boot Drawers

I've knocked up a drawer system for the boot. As I need 6 seats quite regularly I wanted a way I could carry my fridge and still have room to carry other stuff around, something I couldn't do if I put the fridge in the middle row middle seat position.

It's basically an mdf base with 2 aluminium side panels spaced by 10mm studding which covered by hydraulic pipe. I've only got one set of heavy duty drawer runners at the moment, waiting for the second set to turn up. They lock in, lock out, and can take 220kg at 3/4 extension. The top 'drawer' is just bolted in as a shelf until the drawer runners turn up.

Just need to get some ratchet straps of the correct length to neaten it all up, and I'll probably line the outside with carpet trim.

Are you going to close it up with doors or leave it open?

Ta Smile No doors, want to make access as quick and easy as possible. One thing I've thought about adding is a 'table top' that I can pull out to give extra space for standing stuff on (Jetboils, mugs etc), as there's a large enough gap under the fridge.

Aye, might be an idea to put something on the drivers side opening to stop stuff flying into the people in front if you had to jump on the brakes. An aluminium grille or bars would allow you to still have vision out the rear window if you didnt have much on the shelf Thumbs Up

The fridge is on a fridge slide, so can't move. My battery pack sits behind, held by fitted eyebolts. Stuff on the top is in boxes, and the studding that holds the sides stops the box from moving forwards.

Group buy? Laughing Lots of favours went into this, not sure replicas are possible.....

List price was £98 (0032), I got them for £75 (inc P&P) as they had them in stock. They use these ones on fire engines, apparently. Very pleased with them.

Thanks for the reply on my other thread. Really like this.. Those ratchet straps - do they just go under the rear seat and back out the other side?

And what did you use for the shelf?

Cheers!
