Unclip the small panel behind the park brake lever (flat plastic cover 2"x1") and look for a wire loop. With part of the jack handle, pliers or screwdriver inserted through loop, pull hard!
(And I mean hard!)

you could try to remove the keys then press down the epb lever whilst depressing the footbrake, insert key and move to position two and see if that does it before any force is required.

Or, if it's an automatic, stick it in drive and see if the EPB releases when you press the throttle (drive away release - automatic only!)

The early manuals didn't have auto release.

BTW, if you pull the emergency release cable, good luck getting the cables back together again inside the module!

yesterday I was waiting outside to pickup the kids.....and while waiting I opend this plastic cover behind the EPB.
To look for the wire loop.....

No luck....don't see any wire loop, only thin I can find is a cabling assembly to the EPB-handle and a non-connected small connector.

So....Where is this wire loop...????

I'm using a spring hook to catch it with, It's one I carry for the purpose, takes quite a tug to release it though.

There's also a manual unlock for the gear shift in there somewhere, (in case you need to shift the transmission out of park with no power in the car,) it's a plastic lever just forward of the brake release cable, I managed to find it once just by poking and prodding but it's not an obvious thing.

That's odd then, I wonder if someone has pulled it too hard before and broken it Question Confused

Might be an idea to dig a little deeper in there - as you say "just in case" Whistle

To be honest I've never had a problem with the EPB on either of my D3's - but there again I rarely use it, normally just rely on leaving it in "Park"
