Fueltank sensor mystery

Currently trying to resolve the issue with the Fuelgauge in my Disco V8 that works fine until it reaches 1/4 full and than stays at that setting forever until the tank is bone dry and the engine cuts out...
Here is my test scenario:
    Fill Up car
    Read setting for full tank
Drive till half full and read settings
    Continue driving and read settings

According to what I see with Faultmate the Fuelsender 1 Votltage drops as expected while Fuelsender 2 Voltage is very low with a full tank (0.75V). At some point the Fuelsender 2 Voltage starts going up again which is probably causing the false reading.
Therefore I wonder if it is possible to install a Fuelsender "upside down" or you would have another explanation for the strange symptom. Does anyone happen to know which sender (front or rear) is Fuelsender 2?

I guess access to the sender and wiring is only possible once the tank has been removed from the car and that does not sound like a nice job...

Any help & tips appreciated

Nikolaus

There was an issue with corrosion in the connectors in the R/H wheel arch, which caused the fuel gauge to give spurious readings. ..

Worth a look, if nothing else

more measuing - more info

Have done a few more tests and think that the Faultmate fuel sender 1 is the rear tank sensor and fuel sender 2 is the front sensor. Parked the car on a step Garage ramp facing down and than facing up and as the Voltage on the sender 1 increases when the car is facing up and therefore it could be the rear sensor.

Thanks for the tip with the corroding connectors in the front wheel arch. Would you happen to have a picture or drawing to ensure I look at the right connectors?
