What type of battery?

Battery completely dead - 3 volts. Had to go in through the passenger door with the key.

If I have to change the battery, is it a standard lead acid or anything special? Needless to say I wont necessarily be going to my local LR dealer...

It's the lead 'calcium' bit that gets me, is this a special requirement for the Landy or is this now common to most car batteries?

Lead Calcium is a lower maintainance more modern lead acid battery.

The charging system (higher voltage) in the D3 is set to cope with this, standard lead acid batteries would require water being added more frequently due to gassing.

I would fit the LR 950cca and you get a 3 year guarntee

Ian.

Yeah, now that the battery's had a couple of hours on charge and the old girl's back up and running I notice that the charging voltage on tickover is over 15 volts. I didnt expect it to be quite this high, perhaps 14 volts but then only on revving the engine.
