Hi All
I'm considering whether to change the D3 for a FFRR. Does anybody know anything about their problems. Will I be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Althought I must admit, touch wood, I have not had any trouble from my D3 as yet but I'm a low mileage user 28000 in 5 years. I will be looking for a low mileage 55 or 06 plate diesel in order to avoid the road tax increase, every little bit helps, as they say.
Appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

My Dad has an 05 S/C Vogue SE FFRR and it is brilliant. Onl real problems are with suspension faults that have ended up with a new compressor recently, get the off transmission and traction reduced error message that we have not got to the bottom of yet and the rear wiper arm worked it's way loose and was clonking during use and over bumps. I love his FFRR, great vehicle
cheers Alex

Logical move. Will probably be at that junction a couple of years from now. Unless I go for a Q7 V12 TDI..... 8) The older I get, the better I was.

I changed from a D3 to a FFRR just over 2 years ago. I had one of the first D3,s so it was nearly 4 years old when i changed.
The FFRR has been great with only a duff battery which was changed under warranty. There are circumstances when I still miss my discos versatility and space and 7 seats and at one time i was thinking of going back to a D4, but the comfort and presence won over. The FFRR is still a vehicle who's development is 10 years old and unless you buy a new one lags a bit behind in the toy department but overall its a brilliant vehicle. Mines a 2008 TDV8 vogue se which i bought mainly because of the adaptive lights. never needed the Ski bag or dog guard but the cooled seats are quite good for the one week of summer we get.
I get about 22mpg on short journeys and 28/29 on long ones. Road tax is a crippler at £435 but insurance wise its not too bad but i suggest you have a tracker fitted as a lot of companies will not insure without one. I had the cheapest tracker fitted which cost £180 and £7 per month.
I suggest that if you can afford it you get the face lifted one which came out in 2006 which as the LR bits rather then the BMM ones, updated nav and radio and TDV8 engine
Hope this helps ex DI D2 and D3 owner now have FFRR TDV8 but thinking of coming back to a D4 Love my Disco

if you stuck 2 3ltr D4 TDV6's together you'd have a V12 with that much torque as well.

It certainly is...I've seen one accelerating at full whack and it is impressive.
......unfortunately it also shares one of the common physical characteristics of a monster in that it is ugly as 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Jeremy Clarkson:
It is a hysterical car, this. Mad. Bonkers. Stupid. It sits on the road network like a Class-1 powerboat would sit at the Henley regatta. The older I get, the better I was.
