Cost Price?

Anyone any idea what cost price from LR to the dealers is? I've been offered a deal with the term 'cost price' included but don't yet know the actual amount! Would only be looking at SE or above.

I've heard that the margin is quite slim as even specials or discounts from LR mean that the dealers margin is still pro rata...but can't put a figure on it I'm afraid Crying or Very sad

...they make far, far more out of second hand sales Wink

TBH If this is the case jeff then your not going to get much better.......just check the invoice price and maybe call a few other dealerships to see if they can better it Wink

It is a very long story Steve but I think that it was a real cost price (Sep 05) but don't think prices have changed have they?

If you take the cost price of the car without on road costs i.e. delivery, road tax etc and less the VAT. Then deduct 12.5% from that and 12.5% from delivery. Then add VAT Road tax and £120 for workshop costs, that gives you the invoice price that Land Rover take out of their bank the day the car is registered. There is an extra £1000 discount for you at the moment which is a loyalty bonus if you already have a V5 document for a Discovery in your name.
The dealers will also get strategic quarterly bonus money on top of their margin but few will be prepared to gamble with this.

Jeff, funnily enough I asked the dealer that very question this morning, having rec'd the same flyer, sorry .. VIP Exclusive opportunity to buy a D3 at "cost price"

The answer was (from memory) 30.9k for an S manual with metallic
and 35.6k for SE manual / metallic

From what I could gather, a 5% discount seemed to feature.

Generally seemed to be a reasonable deal as main dealers go.

The disadvantage being the need to register by 30/9 which rules out 2007 model cars, which will be noticeably different due to the new wheel designs (together with the different colour horn push strips - wow!)
Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

I bought mine at the end of a quarter to help get them a quarterly kick back. Got 10% off but that was a year ago. I would hope to do better now.
