Hi,
I have a 2005 Disco3 HSE 4.4V8. The dashboard light just came on today saying to "Check Pads".
I realize that once this comes up I need to get this sorted soon as possible, but is there a rough guideline for how many KMs are left before they go srapeing the discs to pieces ? Will I be OK doing a few hundred KMs for instance ? Or 1000km even ? I know these warning systems often come on far too early... but is there a guideline for this in this case ?
Also, any idea how much it will cost at the stealers ? How long does it take normally ? 15mins probably with a book time of 3 hours.. LOL
Cheers

My local stealer quoted £215 for front pads.
They can shove it, doing it myself using bodsys guide and a bro in law whose a chief oil rag.
And no the light is on for a reason, if you go too far you could damage your warning sensor and discs.
Get them done
Asap.

They can vary from brand to brand but I get mine from TLO our site supporter and all round parts wizard.
Depends on your age of vehicle and the spec etc but I'd say £70+ for original LR OEM. All things shipping, storage, transport. UK and worldwide.

Thanks for your replies. Will try and get a few quotes, have to admit that I do not fancy doing it myself... Seeing how it is based on how the car stops. LOL.
Cheers.

I was quoted stupid amounts by the stealers, going on the Internet got OEM parts, front, rear pads and discs plus sensors for £209 delivered, using Bodsy's excellent guide did it myself and was surprised how easy it was, I haven't done anything like that in years
Oh and I drove around for 2 months with the light on and there was still meat left on the pads when I changed them, though that is no recommendation
