Suspension issue
Hi all
Anticipating going long distance next year quite a lot and wanting to be prepared for likely scenarios with my 2005 lr3
One being the common suspension
The height won’t be changed much and has a new air tank
The compressor I’m thinking may have a hack to avoid being broke down or in limp mode
Was thinking maybe there’s a manual way of compressing to a driveable height?
Or maybe a 12v tyre compressor could be tapped in as a temporary fix?

I think your looking at this wrong my friend.
Firstly before doing a lot of miles”not sure of the terrain” first a good full service. Gearbox and levels checked. Brakes discs and pipes etc.
Ask the garage to check the suspension. Or if you have a IID check the calibration and check for any faults. Check bulbs carry spares. I’m sure others will agree whatever you plan for this is a Landrover and you must be ready for any eventuality. Breakdown cover.
If you have a well maintained motor your 99% there. I wouldn’t recommend playing around with anything of it doesn’t need it.
If your particularly worried about suspension, check height sensors, valve blocks and air bags for any signs of damage,
This should show up if the suspension doesn’t sit level, sinks etc. Check the handbrake although you may not need it, it’s important to check it over.
Carry spare water, oil, screen wash, bulbs etc.
Have a good spare and make sure you know how to lower it. Check battery condition,
And carry a manual pref the Haynes.
On top of all this. Go enjoy yourself and don’t worry about things happening, you won’t enjoy it.

To be fair I’ve covered that and then some. Also have a tool kit etc and will be relying on my disco. Have given it most the essentials new. Breakdown cover too. And diagnostic tool. To be fair I’ll be sweet!
Just need the pandemic to go away now so I can get back to working!
Thanks

Service the compressor if it hasn't been done already, depending on environment I'd recommend doing it every 2 or 4 years. First pop the cover off and check which make is fitted, and order a dryer kit for it.
If it's Hitachi there are more bits available than for the AMK, but these too have a little more available now than previously.
It's simple stuff to do, and new desiccant and filters in the dryer alone will give it prolonged life.
It's not safe to interfere with a system if it has decided there is an unsurmountable fault and activated the "limp" protocol. Bring a GAP IID BT with you, it will be the best money you'll ever spend on her, and it will at the very least allow you to clear the "limp mode" to get you to a safe place! And, bring a new brake light switch in the glove box, just in case. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
From past experience, I would not take my Disco anywhere off the beaten track without an EAS (Emergency Air Suspension) kit. My car was fully serviced and checked out and the compressor decided to spit the dummy as I was coming off a mountain track in Italy. I managed to get the car back to my hotel but that was it for the rest of the trip. Eventually got it fixed by Landrover in Turin (covered by breakdown insurance) and managed to get back to the U.K.

Hi would it not be easier to just replace the whole thing for £130 and swap it in one?
Or is the dryer kit an easy thing to do?
Also out of curiosity what’s the price average for spring suspension please?
Thanks

A complete compressor for £130 will be junk! If you get a month out of it you will be doing very well.
If you opt for a spring conversion you will IMO destroy the car as this will curtail it's capabilities as well devalue it. Servicing the compressor is child's play if you can use a screwdriver and a few small spanners.
Find out which compressor is fitted and post back. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hitachi is one of two makes fitted, the other being AMK. The pipework is different for both as is the software. Pipework kits are available to allow you to swap either. And the software update if you change is in the GAP IID diagnostic tool. My view is AMK is the better compressor.
The one you are looking at above is junk!
You have been warned!!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Updating (finally)
This is the compressor. It looks in decent nick outside.
It doesn’t say what make it is. Does the shape indicate anything to anyone?
I’m looking to service it myself.
Hopefully your tekkers will help me get the right kit!

Yeah it's a Hitachi, replace the plastic drier cover as well as the contents and filters. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
