Just had a call from a mate in distress... |
|
Just had a mate on the phone, his Disco has just shat itself at the side of the motorway...
Comes up special programmes off, HDC fault + suspension lowers
Said it happened earlier today, plugged it in and it came up with a fault in the dynamics module C1A96, Brake Light Switch Cicruit, Signal compare failure
Did have other codes but were all lost comms due to the above fault
Managed to limp it to a dealer who changed the brake light bulbs and brake switch + sent him on his way.
Says it does it all the time now, as soon as its restarted the fault comes up.
Limped it off the motorway and is spending the night in a travel lodge or something. Is there anything he could check at the side of the road in the morning to get him home? Or is it a recovery job?

Tell him to pull his brake pedal up. It might click and correctly set the brake pedal switch!

Were there not issues with brake bulbs that were not LR parts failing and causing this sort of fault? Worth taking the two bulbs out and doing a reset. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Worth checking the two rear light bulbs, if one of the filaments has gone, this can also cause a shorting issue. d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack

Told him about the bulbs, luckily there is a fuel station just across the road so bought another pair of bulbs just to eliminate them again, no difference.
Also said the brake pedal is up fully, cant pull it up any more My D3 Build Thread

The d3 only seems to like lr bulbs.
Mine kept on having an intermitant issue like your buddies, I replaced the bulbs with lr rear bulbs and all the issues went away. d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack
