EGR - Butterfly stuck down intake - help ..

Doing cut-down EGR valve blank-off. Have put in blanks on top of the EGR valves and put steel pipes back on. Got actuator spindle out but nobody has ever warned that as soon as the spindle comes out the Censored butterfly slips back down the air intake ... eek!?

I've got hold of it a couple of times with some pliers but it seems wider than what its in & gets stuck. Now its gone back by where the 2 steel pipes come in - any ideas how to get it out pls?

Not sure about taking those clips off the EGR steel pipes to get at it from there - will they ever do up again? I'd prefer to leave the pipes on, I certainly don't want to disconnect the pipe from the EGR end again.

Cheers, P

Its OK, got it out. About an hour to do the EGR bit, then 2 hours trying to get the actual butterfly out the air intake! Maybe worth mentioning on the guide to hold it before you pull the pin out ..?

Baz's guide is excellent, though a bit confusing when you are only doing a cut-down job in places.
