HDC FAULT - URGENT HELP NEEDED |
|
Hi,
For the last coupld of days while I am driving along (no particular speed or driving style) all of a suuden my 2006 D3 TDV6 SE will alert me to a system fault, the first thing it shows is:
HDC FAULT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
followed shortly by:
SPECIAL PROGRAMMES NOT AVAILABLE
and then:
SUSPENSION LOWERED
at which point it drops the suspension down to access mode (not so fun at 70mph)
I don't know if it is of any relevance but in the last week the car has had new front brake pads fitted, new front lower suspension arms fitted and bee 4 wheel aligned.
If anybody can help I would be apreciative as I am meant to be driving the car off on holiday in the morning.
Cheers

Sounds to me like a ABS sensor/receivor needs replacing. Have you got Speedo working?

Would I need to take to a LR dealer to get it diagnosed?

Depends where you are, PM Wiggs, he has the kit that can read faults.
I still think its the ABS Sensor in one of the wheels, I had this and also lost speedo.

Thanks for the info, looking at that thread it all sounds the same as my symptoms. Unfortunately I am not going to get time to rectify before I go away so I will have to resort to borrowing my mates car and fix when I get back.
I will re post with my findings on my return.
Ps as in the other thread if I do take an ignition live to the brake switch, what size fuse should I add to protect the system? Any ideas?
Thanks again for the advice

Our 2008 G4 has just started doing the same thing. Crawling through traffic on the motorway the last week, it came up with HDC failure, transmission fault, then lowered itself and several orange warning lights came on. Turned the car off, let it go to sleep, restarted it, put the suspension back up to normal and it was fine.
Then yesterday it did the same thing again.
Will have to put it in to LR to see what the problem is.

Have changed the brake pedal switch, didn't resolve the issue, so tried the switched live feed to the red wire of the brake pedal switch as suggested, don't know if this resolved the problem as I had to remove it again as once it was connected for some reason once connected it would not let me switch the engine off via the key
Matt, did you get any joy from LR on the cause of your fault??

Presumably if this is the cause it will have logged the fault code?
I had all fault codes cleared on Friday and drove until the car suffered the fault again and am going to have the codes re-read tomorrow to see what is there.
If so any ideas what code it should be showing?

why do you think you would have a fault wrong angle is still angle = no fault
trying to help and amount of ignorance is unbelievable
calibrate the sensor - job done

Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean here?

Not sure why you need to resort to insults, I was simply asking a question as I do not know the cause or resolution of my problem, if I did, I wouldn't be here asking!

steering agle gives the car information about the angle of front wheels
if it lose calibration car is convinced you are turning constantly
as a result all christmas tree comes on on dash (very common after wheel alighment)
there is no faul codes logged for that (car really thinks you are making turn)
to stop lights coming on you have to set the wheels stight and calibrate the sensor
it will help believe me
Part 2 ignoe me too many members didnt believe at first
so wont suprise you arent as well
best regards adam
