Not everyone wanting to pay via bank draft is dodgy! I bought my D3 with a bank draft as it was the only practical way of bringing that amount of money to the UK from Ireland. Some of the dealers I spoke to wouldnt accept a bank draft and instead wanted me to transfer the money electronically (takes around 2 days), which would have meant paying for a D3 I hadn't seen in real life, or else making 2 trips over, the first to view and then the second to collect, increasing the cost of the purchase. you can always prepay your credit card and then go purchase using that. then you would get extra insurance I do believe.

Would also mean a 4 hour wait whilst the CC company sorted it out. My sister bought her disco that way (D2) nightmare for all concerned! I bought the wife's Freelander with a cheque and drove straight out with the car, but my dealer knows me! DS3 TDV6 HSE

If your credit limit is high enough why bother to prepay it? Take the 56 days of interest free Steve N (qzd)

I normally pay with a credit or debit card and once or twice the machine has said call bank for security check, then the bank just asks me a couple of questions like DOB, an example of a direct debit and amount etc.
Think it is the best way for all concerned, but you have to buy from a dealer with a credit card machine.

I brought my D2 on my Visa debit card. If I wanted to pay by bankers draft, the dealer wanted this 7 days in advance, and like others, I didnt want to part with the money until I'd seen the goods. Electronic payment was OK, so I just placed my funds into my current account, and paid on my card. Quite good feeling too, as an elderly couple sitting at the next sales desk looked very shocked to see me buying a new car on my plastic.

But you have to pay over the odds to BCP and then get him to give £4300 to the 'shipping agent' - ME!

Nah - its all about favours. One day, somebody else will help me out, and the circle will be squared. Karma, as Earl would say
