| Air Bag Rotary Coupler Recall? |
|
My air bag warning light would go off after initial lamp test , and then would come back on and stay on. So I booked it in to the dealer. On getting it back from the dealer, they have said they have replaced some ring thing on the steering column. They say they have had the steering wheel off. He was a bit vague as to his explination. Has anyone had the same fault? Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT2's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

There have been several airbag warnings from various forum members, the most common seems to be the wiring under the seat getting pulled tight. Silver TDV6 HSE

| Air Bag Rotary Coupler, Recall? |
|
Just had LR dealer on saying that my Air Bag Rotary Coupler needs checking, as per a service bulletin.
I Told them that I had this changed in Oct 2006, but they want to check the new one fitted is ok.
I have had no problems since it was changed back then.
Has anyone else had this call? Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT2's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

Yep, for vehicles in a certain VIN range they will replace the clockspring during the next service. It's not a recall, just a Service Action. Applies to early vehicles - mine's a 54 plate. I'll try to find the VIN range it applies to.

Thanks for that, I didn't know this is what you call the "clock spring".
When i came back from my Holidays I was wondering what these posts were about.
It's in at 08:30 this morning to get it checked.

Strange they asked you bring it in just for that - I called my dealer and they said no need to bring it in specially, it can wait until the service next year. D3 TDV6 S 2005 - TorqTune, Privacy Glass, Remote FBH, 19" HSE Alloys, Boot liner, retrofit F&R PDC, RAI

Did they replace yours or just modify it? I got this message from my dealer yesterday:
Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been away on holiday until today.
Your vehicle is due for the rotary coupling modification to be carried out, this can be done while you wait at no cost to yourself but it does not involve the replacement of the clock the spring only a small modification to it.

Just rang them and they have just done the mod (washers and longer bolt). Probably because I had a new clock spring fitted in Oct 2006. Is that service action for the coupler replacement or the later mod (longer bolts and washers) mentioned? Click here to Sponsor AndrewS and Crew in the Santa Challenge...
