heated steering wheel

Hi All
Can anyone give me an answer to what is actually needed to fit a heated steering wheel I might be getting offered one and I want to know what else I will have to buy to get it to work
Is there also wiring involved or is it a straight plug and play just looking into it at the moment, but need to work out if the extra cost is worth it
cheers

New switches and clock spring ISTR, also if pre 07 then wiring is needed to power it. From vague memory so may be wrong. Whistle

heated steering wheel

Hi DSL
Thanks for your answer mines is a 2005 HSE and according to the parts guy at one of the LR dealers in edinburgh he said everything should be there just might need to change the clock spring to the newer one the 3 is also fully phone prepped
so is it just the wheel clock spring and new switches that I need
If it needs wiring what is invoved and where do the wires go to that you need is it a loom you can buy from LR
cheers

Theres no wiring to the bottom of the clock spring on any D3 ...you need to bring up 12v from somewere and connected it to the 2 pin plug that will be on the new clockspring

The steering wheel ecu should come with the new heated steering wheel ....it wont work without it .

That then plugs into the new clock spring ( this has an aditional 2 pin plug on it )

Then at the other side of the clock spring ( approx bottom left of steering wheel cowling ) there will be the other end of the 2 pin plug .....here you put a 12v supply to ( + & - )

I took mine from the back of the ciggy ligher plug as its near and its fused and it only works with the key in the ignition ...so you cant leave it on all night
