there are instructions on here about how to flush when you put the unleaded in the tank, check them out on the search.

Run it till right on empty fill about half full then do the same again .
After two tanks there will be little contamination.after 3 nothing that was advice from HMRC given to us during the fuel shortages we were running on red but paying the tax difference .
Dont believe all the crap about staining as the diesel can be bright red and they still will do nothing unless they pick up the chemical isotope the colouring is only there as a warning to the user.
That is why you will get caught if you have washed fuel as the dye is removed but the isotope stays.

Blimey. It must be the only Land Rover in Tyrone that isn't running on red diesel!

You are in probanbly

one of worst places to have this happen.....Strabane being near the border
I have found the UK Customs do check cars coming over Eire / UK the border often....
They do dip the tanks of diesel cars etc......standard check
they check for thos who flout the system......some use red diesel...others use the green stuff (Eire equivalant to our red) (if it still is green)

The UK customs will if they wish impound the vehicle & then check your bank account to see what & where you have spent money (they have all the powers to do this)...if they find you have done this regularly they confiscate the car & give you a hefty fine.

Getting traces of the dye out is very very difficult....I know those who have tried & failed
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Cant speak for any one else in Tyrone, but up until this balls up I have never ran a veichle on red, and I wouldn't be too bothered if it was my jeep I would just run it out and fill with clear, which I'm going to have to take the chance and do with the disco, I have 98% of my receipts for my diesel but I buy most of that in Eire.

PS is there a bung on the tank.

Would it not be worth contacting HM Customs and Revenue, telling them about the mixup and paying the relevant duty on the fuel before getting stopped at a roadside check - they might go easier on you then hopefully?
