I was amazed when my friend with a Disco 3 TDv6 said he's had the discs/pad sets replaced every year for past 3 years. This does however seem very common from the above interest. Are the discs really "worn out" at the same time as the pads?
I never have this problem with my Volvo XC90 or Freelander 2(sorry!!)
I've replaced one set of discs and three sets of pads.
I am wondering if there are alternative "softer" pad grades which can be used, to avoid premature wear of the disc's. Would certainly be cheaper to replace 2 sets of pads a year.

Hi, I was looking for a price for front pads for my 2.7 2005 D3 TDV6 S and how I would go about ordering them. I've heard this is the place to come for this sort of thing. Also how do I know if I need to replace the pads as well.

Mark, Disks should generally last a couple of sets of pads. Unless your mate has a dealer that like replacing them whenever he can get away with it!
Malky, I assume you meant Disks instead of Pads in your last bit?
You need to call Yeovil Landrover Parts Dept and Speak to Nick Lee.
If you are changing Disks, you shoiuld change pads, but if you are just changing pads, then you need to geck that the front disks have more than 27mm thickness in then (30mm new) The rears are 17mm thickness (20 from new)
The Brake pad warning light should come on when the pads are down to about 2-3mm but this doesn't always happen as the sensor is only on oen front and one rear wheel.
