Chipped ? How do I tell.
I recently have had my first serivice (15,000 mile)and have noticed a definate decrease in power and increase in mpg, is there any way to tell if my car is chipped ?, I am thinking the car may have been chipped and when the service was carried out the software upgrade has written the chip back to standard parameters ?
I purchased my D3, 18 months ago, when it was 3 months old, so the previous owner could have had it chipped.

Only real way to tell is if you ask the previous owner. The dealer will have as you say, wiped out the re-map in the ECU if it was there.
Well, the latest s/w upgrade will explain the poor economy. Mine runs at 4mpg worse than it did before.Matt

Ah, but is it poorer economy, or more accurate reporting of it?

mines only a few points down on before so not sure the enhancement affects economy that much to see a big drop.

Do you know the history of your car. It is probable that the car was 'chipped' as I know of several cars that were sold by dealers which were upgraded before sale to 'compete' with X5's
