Seems a bit steep to me, but it depends what they did. What does it say on the invoice?
Changing the front and rear pads shouldn't take them long, and the pads shouldn't cost too much either.

Ask them to check the bill as you feel its to steep. I question every invoice I get and not just from my dealer, quite often you will get a reduction

Just had my 30k service, it was £420 (Stratstone B'ham), I was told that both front and rear brakes need changing and as usual said I would do it myself.
Genuine pads (front and rear) and sensor cables from Famous Four came to £105 inc VAT, and the whole job takes about an hour.
When removed I still had about 20% front and 30% rear but would rather do the job at my leisure rather than in a hurry.
Day after I got back from the service the engine was making a "Chuffing" noise, went back to be told I needed a new Turbo! thats another 4 days without the vehicle!
Cheers

Brake pads are 1 hour at £75 and £55 for parts. i also have a flush treatment for fuel and anti bacterial treatment to the air con, is this standard? TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue and still smiling

Ripon L-R is the place to go without a doubt: very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Mine will be going to them in Jan for it's 15k 1st service - I called them last week & they quoted £185 + vat. And this included a courtesy Disco for the day, too. I am not aware of any L-R dealer able to even get close to that. I know at least 2 other L-R owners (one has a D3, the other a RR TD6) that have used them recently & have both been very happy with service.
Armstrong Massey want a lot more (can't remember exactly, but I think it was around the £270/280 mark) for a 1st service. DGRR

In my opinion I wouldn't recommend Armstrong Massey, York even if it were the only dealer in the UK. They're all too busy with their heads up their own ar*e to be bothered with customers [except Colin who's the only decent bloke in the building]. Had already given the dealer principal a piece of my mind on a previous occassion
My last example was: I bought my car new from them in Jan 05 - paid £41k [not cheap]. 6 weeks ago I had a problem where the tailgate wouldn't open. Took it into them as I was pasing around 9.15am, told by the female behind the desk that they couldn't look at it for at least half an hour [and even then they 'didn't know what they could do']. Said 'OK [like a fool], I'll come back on my return from Chesterfield around lunch time and you can look at it then'. Was told that I would probably still have to wait half an hour for someone to look at. Left dealership fuming, went to Chetserfield and called on Gordon Lamb [LR Dealer]. They got onto it straight away with a 'sit down sir, have a coffee' etc. Excellent service and I didn't even buy it from them!!! I've now moved my business to Ripon Landrover [as I also did mid 90's with a Disco1]. It's just been in for its 60k service and so far cann't fault them [apart from a po-faced blonde behind the desk - who I don't think has ever cracked a smile in her lifetime]. Eric is the man you want to deal with. However if they don't turn up trumps, I'll be moving to Chesterfield. IS IT ME??????
