Automatic Front Parking Sensors

Guys,

Can someone tell me;

2007 D3 HSE - according to the manual the front sensors come on when you engage Drive and release handbrake! - they go off over 10km/hr - but they are supposed to automatically come on under 10km/hr.

Problem is ...... these do not come on until you engage Reverse- Any solutions? ways to change ?

Thanks in advance

The settings were changed by LR ..as people were complaining when they were sat at the lights and some one walked in front of the car , it would set the sensors off

Hi cornishboy,

Have you figured out any way to get this back to the old automatic function? We struggle with the same issue in a D4.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply wired4smoke.

I think it's mostly for newer D3's and D4's that the automatic function of the sensors are disabled.
I have a 2006 D3 where the automatic function is working as it always has.

So is there any with a D4 that know how to get back the automatic function of the pasking sensor?

I bet it's faultmate or autologic work to enable and disable.

On the D4, front comes on AFTER reverse selected and then Drive selected or you press button on the dash
Couldnt comment on D3's as mine was a 2005 with the auto function only (though you could turn it off from the dash ISTR)

Vary good point

My D3 did this at first...which meant you didnt have to remember to turn the Censored on....
It saves clobbering things at low speed...
....surely to god the system could be set discriminate moving forwards at low speed & sat at lights with foot on brake......which to me would satisafy most situations....

Thanks for your reply. We've noticed that if you have it in reverse or press the button it's working.

But we would like to have it automatic, since we are not that bothered with pedestrians moving to close to the car.

In my opinion this could have been a setting in the on board computer. Should not be to hard to give us the option to chose, instead of removing the function.

I'll probably have to check with a garage, or someone that have a faultmate or autologic.

I have not solved this either...

The older D3's used to come on automatically at speeds <10mph....

But the newer ones do not as they only come on when "R" is selected....

Hmmmmm - any faultmates out there can sort this?

I'm completely baffled by my front sensors which only work occasionally. Last night for instance I start the car parked at the side of a road and the sensors beep as I move forwards towards the car in front. After selecting reverse and backing up to leave the space I notice the light on the dash flashing so move forwards to the car in front again to test them and they've inexplicably stopped working. Motorbikes and buses trigger them in traffic as did the recent snow falls so I know they work but I cannot fathom the rules by which they work from reading the various posts on here or my own trial and error. I know my rear sensors are totally banjaxed but not sure if the fronts are or if it's user error.

Mines at

an Independant dealer tommorrow in Leeds
for the parking sensoers to be "unravelled"....they just dont work properly or consistently...
...the rear bumper harness has been faulted after swapping one senor at the back didnt cure the fault I had that still there.
..this fault at the rear also affected the frornts.
when they do fault its not just one sensor that doesnt work.....it appears the whole system goes tits up
