BAS Remap???
In the second week of my D3 ownership and all is well. I have pondered the idea of a re-map primarily to increase fuel efficiency. The BAS remap tool seems a good option but I can't find any before and after stats. Anyone have any experience?

Before:- slow and and boring
After
Dealer flashed over mine wrecked my box

As Geoff says give Pete a ring, he's a good chap.

I have one, but not really noticed much in the way of an increase in fuel economy, but then again I fitted GG AT2s around the same time What you will notice is the power, especially if you use the car for towing I think this is why Pete will not commit to making claims about economy, because most people will use the extra power.

Just got my BAS interface - went to download the relevant information - Pete site says it does not work with 64bit computers and of course mine is a 64bit - is there a work around for this or do I have to find someone with a 32 bit computer?
I have emailed Pete but it is in the middle of the night in the UK so no doubt he is sound a sleep, so hoping some of you UK night owls might have an answer - is in the middle of the day here so hoping to be able to download my map from the car and email to Pete.
Thanks
Garry

Please cdisregard my post above – I should have read all the instructions on the BAS site. I was under the impression that I needed to have the laptop connected to the interface which was then connected to the OBD port. On reading the instructions, I see that the laptop only ever gets connected to the interface – so while my laptop is 64 bit my old Pc is 32 bit so I can use it.
Cheers
Garry
If in doubt read the Instructions

To answer your question I have a manual D3 before I was getting 23 to 24mpg around town and short trips and long runs about 27mpg.
After 26 27mpg around town and 29 to 30 mpg on a run and I don't hang around
It comes highly recommend from my corner it's smoother, pulls like a train in any gear and also gives you a lot more confidants in overtaking and plus your still have a big smile on your face when you reach your destination
Edit
And I have GG AT2s fitted Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

On my 09 Auto, I've found no difference at all in MPG, but its much nicer to drive, more power, smoother, etc. If its just an improvement in MPG you want then this probably isnt what you want.

Al I agree with you that after a BAS remap the car is nicer to drive, more power, smoother, etc.
I disagree with you on the issue of fuel consumption though. I drive a manual & drive fairly hard, but still get an improvement of c. 1.5 mpg - accurately measured over thousands of miles.
Pete can customise his remaps, and I am sure if you wanted he could "tune down" performance gains, and "tune up" economy.
Woody My experience is similar to yours, again as you say despite running on AT2's.
samwilko My advice is to contact Pete Bell, and discuss your requirements with him.

I've just done a 700 Km run today of mostly 100 Kmh + driving
Using the wholly unscientific , Inacurrate Litres/100 Kms guage on the Dash. Same run last month was reading 9.3 L/100. Today ( After Remap ) was reading 7.8 L/100 Km.
The Power is certainly addictive
Not sure what it translates to in MPG but my Diesel Work Ute is really lucky to get under 13/100 Km.
I think the economy benefit really shines on Stable load runs
I generally get between about 9.0 L/100 Km = 25.5 mpg and 10.0 L/100 Km = 28.3 mpg.

NJSS - I went with the itermediate map from Pete, so mine isnt a balls out performance map, and I've done over 15000 miles with it, and on my Auto it hasnt made any difference to my MPG (and I keep s/sheet records for work). Even steady motorway cruising (ie, driving like mss daisy) the best I can get is 29mpg actual (trip comp reads 33 - I record the trip comp and actual mileage - sad I know)
Still, would I take it off - no I wouldnt

Can you confirm you've done it all with 64-bit Windows? I only have 7 or 8 and they're all 64-bit.....
Or more ideally, has anyone done it from a 32-bit guest Windows installation in a VM?
