tow ball problem (again)
Hi,
Sorry for yet another post on towballs, but couldnt find the answer i was looking for
Right, i never had the key so looked at a new lock to see what i needed to destroy to get it off.
I wont say what i did for safety reasons as i know people get a bit funny on it, but [details of what you did removed by admin] Socked in wd40 andstill nothing! Im starting to get grumpy, so unless im missing something else that i need to do, if i cut the latch at the back, will it just slide out?
Thanks, Pete

To be honest the best thing to do is get hold of a local , he will get the towball out in a flash, they know far better than ANY of us how to remove them

We don't have them up here, there's not enough going around for them to steal

You have to release the lock, as you would if you were removing it. Drop the spare wheel, and hammer the big pin back into the towbar assy. The handle will turn as the pin is pushed back in.

Right, will give that a go, cheers.
(Ready for a REALLY stupid question...) to drop the spare, do you just unscrew the centre? Mine will need some mega hammering if thats the case, just want to check thats how its done before using brut force in stead of removing a pin or something stupid. Haha.

To lower the spare you need to go in the boot, expose the winch top and lower it using the wheel spanner 2014 D4 XS

Hey Guys, I'm looking for advice please.
I've just fitted my removable tow bar for the first time (by me). I tried to take the key out and it snapped in the lock. I'm going to get a new lock assembly but is it easy or quick to fit? I don't want anyone to post how i do it (i assume it will come with instructions) but I'm interested in how long it takes. I need to sort it tomorrow night after work before picking up a new trailer.
It will not come with any instructions but when you get the new lock it will all become clear, it takes a couple of minutes to do. You can only remove the key from a locked Towbar

Thanks Washwipe.
Time is going to be against me tomorrow and it all could fall apart if my local dealer doesn't have a lock in stock.
