Cooper general falken or something Else as ATR?
Hi!
I'm looking for new tires for my D3.
I understand that original size is 255/60/18. I have 18" and don't want bigger rims but bigger wheels.
I found that tires that fit are:
265/60/18
275/60/18
285/60/18
I want bigger tires with minimum rubbing and no need to cur plastic. I soon have IIDTOOL.
I been looking around a got through all the topics in the wheels/tyres but did not really find what i needed. Today i have Scorpion atr but they need to be changed.
The tires i been looking at are:
Falken wildpeak (not so many but really good reviews)
Cooper zeon ltz and st maxx (like them both but zeon have earlier reports of crackings)
General grabber at and at2 (well a good tire but i still want to try something Else)
Hankook dynapro atm (don't know much about it)
Toyo open country at (same here)
Continental crosscontact (looks good but i newer seen them)
I'm thinking about 275/60 or 285/60 (65 is to wide).
I really like the look of the zeon but falken and other are better priced.
So write something about what you would choose?
Just had 255 55 19 Zeons on my D4 - great looking tyre not much difference in noise from the c**p road tyres it came with.
SWMBO has Continental Crosstracks on her Fl2 - only gets 10k miles out of a set (probably her driving though)I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Looking a bit at zeon or wildpeak but like a more aggressive look. I'm in no need for mtr so looking for atr.
I would choose hankook mtr:s if i needed mtr:s
For now I a bit in for the zeon with 285/60/18. Would give little rubbing.

285/60 is the biggest you'll get without rubbing the arches. With 285 width I get the feeling you might need spacers to avoid rubbing the suspension arms... But maybe someone with 285s will ber along to confirm (I have 265/70/17 on my D3)Dennis

Thanks beasty!
I think falken is a less expensive tire that works really good. Many haven teven heard of it but get surprised when buying it.
I'm still thinking and cooper zeon ltz or wildpeak is good choice but I like the pattern on the zeon more but the reputation about crackings makes me think twice.

Yes, i can get them but (a bit shallow but don't like the look) i don't like them so much. They are not bad but i would like more agressive pattern.

Trying to narrow it down.
Looking for h&r spacers also.
Found toyo open country 285/60r18. 120s tires.
Nitto grappler 285/60r18. 120s and 123s
Falken wildpeak 285/69r18. 120 tire.
Goodyear wrangler duratrac 285/60r18.
I rank them for now:
1. Nitto grappler
2. Toyo open country
3. Goodyear duratrac
4. Falken wildpeak
Well some say that they just rub little. Of course they are oversized
Thinking of 30mm spacers all around and IIDTOOL lift with 1". Think it's going to look really good.

285/60R18 toyo open country

285/60R18 cooper zeon ltz concerned about possibility to cracking but really good price and good Street/offroad mix.

Good year is out. Hard to find.
Nitto out. Also hard to find.
Cooper zeon ltz is back and toyo open country. Also read some reviews about general grabber at2.
All this tires is easy to get for me and prices are:
285/60R18 zeon ltz 153,50£
285/60R18 Open country 186£
285/60R18 grabber at2 212£
As you can see there are a bit of pricedifference between them. Cooper is one that fit my purposes really good.
