Replacement Front ABS Speed Sensor

Hello.

I'm trying to replace my front ABS Speed Sensor, as I think this may be causing alot my problems which I mentioned in previous threads. Does any body know how to do this? Where is cable routed too?

It might be obvious but I would like to have an idea before, I take the wheel off.

Cheers.

This is well covered by the Bodsys Brake Bible which you can search for on here. Thumbs Up

Great write up, helped me with the pad change as well as replacing the sensor after it broke! If you need a new one take care as it was changed part way through the years - I got mine from AF Factors next day delivery. Thumbs Up

What are the symptoms? The ABS sensor is fitted to the steering knuckle and is routed to a connector above the wheelarch liner.

This is the nearside with the wheelarch liner removed.

Fault List

The issues are;

- No Speedo
- No Special Programs
- No HDC
- Air Suspension will not rise (previous owner had coils in, I changed these out)
- Park Brake Fault

Handheld unit says front left ABS/ Speedo Sensor Faulty.

I'm I on the right track?

I would say so, a wheel speed signal is required and would certainly affect the speedometer, special programmes and HDC as they all rely on the ABS module for specific functions.

Check the wiring first before buying a new sensor.

I believe a replacement has already been sourced from Ebay, but a visual inspection and wiring check should be first on the list Thumbs Up

Cheers Lads.

Correct, I imagine visual inspection should have been more first port of call, however the part wasn't expensive and I just ordered it.

Anyways, it worked! All issues mentioned above have been fixed.

Now to the next ones! Very Happy

Just had a little mishap changing the wheel bearing and broke the speed sensor.
Got all the warning light mentioned now, ABS,HDC Park brake etc
Just wondered if it will be alright to drive this, approx. 14 mile round trip to go get a spare
Suspension seems to be down Shocked
Also can't see any mention of this being changed for later years, does anyone know anymore about this, as was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Was booked in for wheel alignment first thing tomorrow, will they not be able to do this now??

Can do without the car if needs be tomorrow, so they are £22 from advanced factors, would they be that much dearer than the stealers

Safe to drive. However as you are on the bump stops you should take it easy as you have no suspension.

It will also not clock miles and therefore you will have no speedo.

Easy part to change, shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes!
