High mileage on D3 TdV6

Hi Everyone, I view of bad publicity surrounding hi tech diesels of all makes regarding their capabilities to do high mileage, and in particular ourTDV6, I wonder if there are any owners who have a high mileage, and want to boast about it and their secrets of how they achieved it.
I think I need a bit of reassurance that if looked after this motor can do big distance, or do I pack money in a jam jar for the inevitable, as I would not like to sell magnificent vehicle.
So come on guys show off and post your mileages.

A pathetic 145k miles on an 05 plate. Running really well, and I'm planning on taking it to around 200k (unless a well-priced Disco 4 pops up, obviously).

The key to high mileage is to remember that servicing needs remain the same, regardless of how much the car's actually worth in the marketplace. Hence, no corners are cut, and OEM or better parts are used. Anything that fails is rectified immediately.

It helps to have a realistic outlook and a decent sized piggy bank though; I recently had to have the torque converter reconditioned; it's happened to me before with a high-mileage Mercedes, so not a shock, but it was a £1000 bill I could have done without. I could have left it for a bit longer, but wanted the car to be as perfect as possible, so got it sorted asap. Same with suspension bushings; you can leave them for ages until they're eventually an MOT fail, but far better to get it done sooner.

I also change the oil a bit more frequently than the service schedule says - possibly overkill, but this has served me well over the years, and the additional oil/filter cost is negligible in the scheme of things.

Yes oil and filter changes between normal services actually will cost nothing
With the cost of diesel being so high a half of 1 mpg improvement would pay for the extra oil change and the peice of mind that the extra care brings is priceless

My mileage is 118000 Kms
I have the same thinking as you fix it if it's not working properly oil change every 5000 and oil and filter every 10 000 Kms

Kindest regards

Ray

160,000 km on our TDV6 2006 model. Just did the BIG service with the cam belts etc. You need to save up for that one, even if you do it at an indy
