Disco 3 Starting problem

Question

Just having a problem with my Disco 3 auto (06 plate) [affectionately known as 'The Commander' but could get a name change soon if it does not behave!]. When turning the key to start there is nothing happening (no warning lights or anything) but when I move/wobble the gear select lever it fires up as normal. I think it may be a dirty/damp connection related to the gear selector in Park position but don't know how to access.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks[/list]

Gear box pivot is starting to seize. Remove the guard under the gearbox and spray the linkage with grease then work the leaver back and forwards a few times and it should be fine. Will take you a few minutes.

Sounds exactly like what I had a few months ago and what Robbie has told you is bang on.

Quick, easy fix.

I just battered mine with lithium grease and after a few slides of the stick, all was back to normal.
