Headlights
Firstly apologies if this has been endlessly covered elsewhere but driving home tonight i really was shocked about how dreadful the standard headlights on my 08 Discovery XS are. I assumed that one or both main beams were out but when i got home i checked and both were on but more like side lights in cars without separate side lights if you know what i mean!
Is this normal and if so what do people do about it??
Thanks

Halogens or xenons? Not normal for either.

Hi, yes the halogens in my previous 07 XS were not very good, I tried uprated bulbs with not much success as they didn't last very long, so got some xenon headlamp units in the end which were much better.

Now have xenons but have used halogens for years & never had any issues. Might be worth upgrading the bulbs to Philips xtreme +100% bulbs in the dipped beam & full beam. It Could be your bulbs have just degraded & coated the glass, new bulbs time.

Your whole headlights and front end of the car won't last long if you don't change from the standard halogens, there as much use as candles in the dark...

Peter,
Do you have the part numbers to hand, please? I'm considering swapping the halogens on my "S" to something a little more illuminating!
