Most quality relays now come with diodes built in so you do not have to worry, just check the spec before you buy. If you do not get one with diode you run the risk of high voltage spikes during certain stages of the diode operation, these spikes can be damaging to sensative electronic components so for the extra few pence it is not worth the risk in going without a diode fitted relay in my view.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Hi Guys,
Just want to say thanks for the inspiration and I have made a small change. In that I put an LED Light Bar on it. Also had to change it a bit because the 2014 grill is different with a lot less space between the cross bars of the grill. But Click on the link here:

@Russell what size/thickness of steel did you use to make the bracket?
I have a pair of LR spots I'd like to fit but don't fancy drilling the bumper with a hole saw!
Cheers!

Right a forum member has come up with price for these brackets which is a lot better, The price is £15 with £2 for wrapping, I am currently waiting for a price for courier and have got a price for Royal Mail as well, we are also waiting on a price for them to be powder coated. Once we have all this I will approach Martin for permission and post up the group buy.
The bracket would be a replica of the one I got made up and fitted to my last D4, I have checked and it will also fit the MY15. I would guess it would fit a D3 but have not got access to one to check it.
The post from when I fitted them on mine is here

I think it would depend on what grill people have fitted to there D3. I did look into making something similar to your bracket when I mounted my spots but ran into problems with the height of the part sticking out of the grill.
However I must stress that I don't have access to one of Russell's brackets to check this.

Does a D3 grill pull off easily the same way as a D4 grill?
I chap I work with quite regularly has a D3 so I can check for fit on his car but I dont fancy damaging his grill.

Yeah straight forward to remove. Once you open the bonnet there are 4, I think, clips and 2, one either side, of the grill itself but the D3 driver should know what to do

Looked at the d3 grill yesterday and it won't fit I'm afraid. There's no gap looking straight through it.
