Spare wheel stolen help fitting winch
I am wondering if anyone can help. I have just notice that some has stolen the spare wheel on my disco 3 by cutting the cable.
I have had a quote to fix the winch with a steeler and its frighteningly expensive. Has anyone fitted one of the spare wheel winches? Is it just undoing four bolts and bolting in a replacement winch ?
Any help or a description of how to fit the winch would be gratefully received

Yes just undo 4 bolts and swap it overG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hi pugwash, had the same problem myself recently, how much was you quoted just to supply the winch?

Get a D4 winch from TLO (Nick) (even if you have a D3), and fit it yourself. It takes about 15 mins.

Get a spare wheel protector from Ray, work well MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

And make sure you don't put your new spare back on until you have the spare wheel protector from Uncle Ray (RLD) or the pikeys will just nick your new one Cheers Ian

whilst I was at the stealers they advised that they have seen 16 cars in the past week who have had their spare pinched.

Don't bet on them not nicking the space saver, if you did it yourself you could do it for a fraction of £900, winch is about £70, I think Ray's protector is approx £70 and you could probably pick up a good wheel and tyre from here for less than £100 Cheers Ian

Hi Pugwash, your post has got me thinking , I see your in Essex do you by any chance use costco?, because that was one of the places that I had visited in the period that I think mine went missing.

Get a spare wheel from someone here
Get a spare wheel protector from RLD
Total costs nowhere near £900.
