Awaiting LRA ....... Yet Again
Luckily close to home so limped back to await help.
Car has just started stuttering really badly, first noticed on cruise control on the motorway, almost like someone keeps jabbing the brakes on, any ideas?

Well that was so bizarre, after limping home wondering if we were going to make it, jumping and lurching about everywhere, the LRA guy turns up within twenty minutes.
He plugged his laptop in and not a single fault code to be seen anywhere. Then we went for a test drive, up and down he motorway and A roads, about 20 miles or so, didn't miss a beat, totally normal. It has been fine all afternoon as well.
Diagnosis........ must have reset whatever was wrong when it was switched off but left no code. is this good or bad, not sure, would be nice to know what happened and hat it wasn't going to happen again, but at least I am still driving it.
As he had turned up in a MY12 D4 I asked him about the D4 hesitation, yes it was occurring on his car. I also asked if the RRS was the same, apparently the only difference is the software, D4 is adaptive, RRS isn't, the RRS doesn't suffer it.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Sorry to hear your having more woe's with the D4 Dave.
Stick with it

I'm having probs with the D4 brakes binding all round today, am in the Highlands so poor signal and virtually naught internet so TLO did some forum searching for me and found you had similar today, would be spooky if both the vehicles had the same prob same day. I found the brake pedal went hard and the car was noticeably being braked i.e. the auto box changed down when it normally need not, the mgp was way down and if you flicked into neutral the car actuall slowed to a stop, on getting out and checking the wheels, all 4 were f'ing hot Despite not having touched the brake pedal for 3-4 miles and travelling up hill for the distance
Limped back to the holiday chalet and checked things over, found nothing decided to try to get to the Dealers but they were closed by the time I got there, but then again it's been fine all afternoon - weird! Going to keep an eye on things and if necessary call LRA or go to dealers on Monday. This anything like your problem Dave T?

But not MrH on his hollies. I had to deploy the old lucky rabbits foot when I crossed the Callie Canal. Not too effective either as icy as f k in places on the 1st.

Mine does the same at 2200 revs on the motorway... Hand stutters like bad fuel starvation etc that I wondered if it might be blocked filters (albeit not long after a service so remote risk...) or EGR valves playing up.
Dealer is due to change the throttle body but these are apparently on 'back order' so not entirely sure when this will happen.
Diagnosis was done over the phone as they had seen exactly the same issues just before Christmas so it might seem like a theme developing here.

Started again this morning, its like driving down the road and jabbing gently at the brakes. Noticed it first when on cruise control but it then continued in town and when pulling out of junctions which made the hesitation problem seem insignificant .
Had a check of the wheels when I stopped, no sign of any heat what so ever so its not the brakes binding, any ideas?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Thanks for that Russel, when LRA came out before there were no fault codes showing at all, would that tie in with this?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Have you had it in GGS mode at all ?
I had this the other day and thought HDC was on ?
I checked it wasn't in one of the off road settings and carried on, it did it again and hasn't done it since,
It happened on trailing throttle, it did feel like something electronic was trying to take over, I didn't notice the revs as I was trying to look out back to see if the brake lights were lighting up anything behind,
