My indy was similarly un impressed by the job - although he has said he's very impressed with the difference it's made to the oomph (oh and the noise).

Thumbs Up

I don't need to, the bottom two nuts came undone without any issues, they were tight and corroded, but with a 14-16mm Irwin Nut Gripper socket they come off easily enough Thumbs Up

I just can't get to the top one on the turbo with the Irwin socket on a uj socket swivel thing and a couple of long extensions the angle is too extreme to be able to undo the nut, unless I'm missing something Whistle

(To put things into perspective I'm fairly ok with a spanner and working on D3's, I've changed my transfer box twice, the suspension arms, wheel bearings, brake pipes, front diff all myself, and also all three engine belts twice) but this is doing my head in, is there so knack to getting at the top nut, something I need to get maybe ?)

Steve have'nt read the rest of the tread, but the top nut was removed on mine, by a friend who's a LR tech at dealer ad used a double sided ratchet spanner(long and flat to work in the confined area) working from out side the car trough the fender behind the front wheel, obviously not corroded and on my09 D3.

I did wonder if that was possible, I got to the lower outside one through the wheel arch, but by using a spanner on the Irwin socket Thumbs Up

The issue I think I'll have is the nuts are quite corroded, so the correct size spanner (15mm) will slip whereas a 14mm size won't fit, so basically it's a real pain in the butt, made worse because I hate being beaten by a Censored nut Confused

Irwin bits have always worked for me.

However, I have just bought a new set to replace my original 8 year old set, and the new ones are a much, much tighter fit onto rounded nuts/bolts.

I suspect my old Irwin bits are worn just enough to be a perfect fit Embarassed

Hi
Well managed to get the pipe on today, and what a job.
Top nut and the inner nut came away quite easy, but the outer nut was a right pig Evil or Very Mad
Mine too was'nt either a 15mm(to big) or a 14mm(too small) and really corroded.
None of the Irwin nut remover's seemed to work and I ended up rounding the nut.
Ended up cutting the nut with a small air grinder and getting a pair of Irwin vice grips on it.
Came off eventually, but completely mangled.
Once I got the old cat out the new one fit like a finger up a bum Thumbs Up
Well happy now, sounds great and a bit off uummppff too
Thank you Robbo770 for the group buy and write up, allisport for the pipe and TLO for the new nuts!! Bow down
