U1A39-87 error - adaptive headlamp failure
Just fitted some LED sidelights, but when I put the units back in, the yellow warning light for the adaptive headlamps is flashing. Connected IID tool and got the following:
U1A39-87 (AF) Communication malfunction of right actuator - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
Took the headlamp out again - both of them since I wasn't sure if "right" meant offside on a UK vehicle - but the error is still there.
I didn't drop or knock the headlamps when I took them out.
Any suggestions as to what to look for?

Sounds like it's lost connection with the motor that moves the lamp, check the plug under the bottom cover into the ballast unit, it's a yellow plug Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Sorry, I meant does "malfunction of right adaptor" in the error message mean that it's the offside headlamp which has failed? There are two rules for success,

To the Company the Right hand Side is always the same side of the vehicle , ie sitting in drivers seat facing forward. It doesn't swap over depending on the vehicle configuration

Took a look under the cover as suggested. Yellow plug properly inserted, so it's not that. Reassembled, but I still have the error.
Also lost PDC now, but I suspect I disturbed the wiring to the front sensors. Have replugged the connectors, but not tested yet. Tested and working now.
Is there any way to check the headlamp unit itself? Would unplugging the headlamp whilst the engine was running (lights not on) caused the fault? There are two rules for success,

In the absence of further info, is it possible to get the control unit as a separate part, or do I have to replace the whole headlamp unit? There are two rules for success,

I had problems when I put LED sides in mine.
Luckily it blew the fuses rather than any other damage to the adaptive light unit.

That's interesting. I think I'll leave well alone with the old fashioned bulbs for a bit. There are two rules for success,

Not had any problems (yet) with my LED sidelights which have been in for well over a year.

I have the same problem. I tried to change my light to LED and as soon as I changed the lights the I had this same error, and my swivel has stopped working and it gave the error on the two headlights. what can I do to correct these, however does someone have the disassembly procedure for the headlights? I seem to notice that one of the headlights is more recessed than the other, possibly explaining the play I hear when the headlights are shaken
