Oil pump casing

Hi all, this is something new to me, am i right in saying there is faults with all 2007MY oil pump casings and should i be changing mine, is there a modified version to replace it with and why is it only on this model year, my car has done about 50000 mls, any info would be appreciated, thanks

I think the answer is it depends. The oil pump was changed a few times and ended up back where is started with.

But I'm pretty sure that it is unlikely to fail until you have the belts changed - at that time, get the oil pump changed at the same time to give the piece of mind.

All 07 and 08 2.7tdv6 D3/RRS engines could have this issue yes.

There were 4 designs of oil pump casing to stop the timing belt tensioner from breaking it!. They only supply one for all years now. It has much much stronger webbing than the first version.

Flack on here will not change a 07 or 087 timing belt unless it has the oil pump casing changed as well. The oil pump casing and timing belt is a 6 or 7 hour job as it's quite involved. The part itself s only about £70.

There have been people that have had it failed before the timing belt was due and after the timing belt is due. Mine failed 1,000 miles after it had been changed.

My advice..... get it changed when you get the belt done. Thumbs Up or before if you can Thumbs Up

not quite correct,
it was changed (redesigned) 3 times from its first design. Now the ONLY oil pump casing they should supply for all d3's regardless of year, is the LAST oil pump case which is substantially stronger than the previous ones.

Was this fitted at build time on the last D3s?

If so does anyone know at which VIN number or build date this pump was fitted.

My D3 is MY 2009 VIN SALLAAA179A49nnnn, and I hope that it may have the optimum pump.

Apart from the additional webs on the latest on , I do not know what the difference is between the different part no's.

For all engines the latest part is now specified.

So I have done nearly 46k miles in my MY09 D3 - build date 02/07/2008.

If you calculate the belt change time from build date I'm due to do it before July 2015.

I plan to keep the car for another 5 years or so.

Question should I change the belts & oil pump now, or hang on in until 2014/15?

I have my own idea, but would appreciate your views.
