Just had my 06 done two new compressors fitted in as many months however it is the software / wiring causing the failure. (So I told) To date since new software new loom new compressor all is so far fine. Notice to Vultures are you bits ready for collection yet

I have just driven 2660 miles around France, with no problems at all when I got home and put the Disco in access mode I got an information message saying suspension fault, with amber suspension signal. This only happens when I drop the Disco to access mode. Everything else seems to be working ok. Any ideas?
I will fill in the survey when the kids have finished with the computer.

I also had a range of problems, which I think started when I began using the access height regularly (elderly parents and getting kayaks on roof).
Initially I was told it was software related, then the compressor, which is where the problem did lie. I assume that most people had the same suspension fault. Initially LR were changing the compressors, now its a 4 way valve that distributes the air - cheaper option. Fixed mine thus far - 3000 miles without a problem. Parts were first available in late July, so dealers should be doing changes during services - or will they wait for problem to occur - suspect that latter.

Since a couple of days my 2 weeks old D3 started showing Suspension Faults. This only happens so far when either driving at access height (low ceilinged parking garage at work) or when taking sharp right turns. The fault shows for 2 or 3 seconds and then disappears.
I noticed that the fault started appearing after cleaning mud from the chassis and wheels after some mild off roading. I used a karcher high pressure cleaner for this (after reading some threads about cleaning in this forum). But I did not use it at a very close distance (I think).
Could the cleaning be the cause for this problem by injecting water into some sensor? The weird thing is that the fault only shows at access height or in sharp right turns...
I will contact the dealer tomorrow, but any advice is welcome! 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

The text is just "SUSPENSION FAULT", and the little yellow light depicting the car with a couple of arrows comes on. It stays on for a couple of seconds and then disappears again.
I tried to take some sharp corners this morning, but no fault. As soon as I selected acces height to enter the parking garage at work the fault showed again... 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

OK, still think it's a height sensor issue, just a thought, check all the linkages are still on - maybe you blasted one off with the jetwash? for Freelander 2 Diesel, Discovery 3 / RR Sport TDV6 & RR Sport TDV8, Defender (TD5 & Puma) - available Now!

Can't post any photo's at the mo
i'll try and describe it....
Turn the front wheels fully to one side, on the chassis rail you will see a black box about 50mm x 70mm with a lever arm and a connector to one side of the upper suspension wishbone, this is the height sensor. On the lever arm there should be a plastic rod, either black or white which is connected to the suspension wishbone. there is a similar setup on the rear but is more difficult to access
Don't be tempted to disconnect the sensor plug unless you've disconnected the vehicle battery first as this could store erroneous fault codes in the ECU making it more difficult for the dealer to diagnose the actual fault for Freelander 2 Diesel, Discovery 3 / RR Sport TDV6 & RR Sport TDV8, Defender (TD5 & Puma) - available Now!

Ok, just checked the height sensors: the front sensors look ok, the rods are in place and connected, and the connectors are also firmly in place. Judging from the amount of mud on them I did not really hit them with the jetwash (and I thought I did a good cleaning job... ).
On the rear wheels it is more difficult to see, but I think everything is ok there too. I never got in so deep with the jetwash anyway.
It is a surprise to me that it all looks so fragile: thin plastic rods that are quite exposed, and the protective sleeving leaving about 5 cm of thin wires exposed. It seems quite easy for them to get damaged by stones or sticks... Or to get water and dirt between the wires and the sleeving 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.
