If they did it would be a long way off yet.

Best bet is a 3.0 V6 next.

Mind you, they have dropped the V8 petrol for the UK as of MY08 starting April 30th builds...

That is a shame, I tried the V6 and while it was better than the old Discos it still feels sluggish. Shame they are dumping the V8 from now on as it is a great car/engine, if a little thisty!!

We don't even get the TDV6 here in the States... let alone any future V8. So consider yourself lucky!

Consider ourself lucky:
Imagine 2,7tons pushed by 190 horses... Sad

LR is loosing customers
I sold our Mercedes G-Wagon 400 CDI in 10/2006 and I´m still waiting for a D3 V8 TDi.
My wife don´t want to wait longer. So what to buy with 7 seats?

LR worries about sales of the RR and RRS, nothing else. While the sold # of DC GL diesel (320 & 420 CDI) are getting better and better month by month!

nothing wrong with the TDV6 once its run in and loosened up.

Its not sports car anyway guys. Once on the move the D3 hauls along very well indeed.

You can also for a small fee TC or JE your engine Thumbs Up

What!!! ...bought the wrong car then???
Maybe try Porsche, Ferrari, etc; if you need performance over an excellent engine/vehicle package.
You can though have it re-mapped for that extra ooomph [ as mentioned earlier]!!

Having driven the TDV8 FFRR on and off road a few times, I have to say LR are missing a few tricks not using this engine in the disco. I'm not into fast 4x4 I don't see the point, but this engine would transform the D3. I guess however they will wait for the competition to come up with a better all round car and then update D3. I just hope they don't do the same as they did with the D2 and let the competition get too far ahead.

I mut say that being new to LRs I have been massively impressed by how quick the LR3 moves with the TDV6 in it. The V8 would of course be better but then fuel economy would drop.

Anyway to get back on topic my locla dealer said tha the V8 will make an appearance in the Disco but not for a few years. As already posted LR are concerend about maintaining the status of the big RR. Disapointing but you will struggle to convince them otherwise when they make the best 4x4s by far Very Happy

Don´t worry about fuel economy because of increasing hp & cubic inches:

5 years before I sold our GD 350 and bought a G 400 CDI V8. We did more than 100.000km with both and no change in mpg at all!

Biggest differences between 6 and 8 cyl. diesel were easier towing (3 to) and torque in mud or deep loose sand.
