I have been told by my dealer that the tow-bar electrics I fitted to my 08 are probably from an earlier model, and are not compatible. They work, but the parking sensors occasionally kick -in with the trailer on,and the dreaded bong sounds sometimes but with no warning displayed. Before I refit with new electrics, wondered if anyone could confirm if there was an update on these?
Incidentally, the car has always chucked in random bongs to keep us on our guard, even before tow-bar was fitted. Thanks in advance.

First I've heard of that, but this is the partnumber for tow electrics YWJ500201, you should be able to find a lable on the exisiting loom, probably inside the left cubby hole where it connects to the vehicle loom.
However, I think you've answered you own question - if you've had bonks previously, I'd say there's an underlying cause - also if the Rear Parking sensors worked before the tow-electrics were fitted, check the cable hasn't been pinched and the connector isn't loose.
Next time you get a set of bonks to the dealers to get them to check the fault logs they such have recorded something.
Hope this helps LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Your dealer recording your bonks, i would have thought your SWMBO would give you the faults, not your dealer

Even though I did it, I must admit that is a classic Freudian slip So, I'm not going to edit it out LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

As far as I can tell, there has only ever been one part number for the UK-spec dual 7-pin tow bar electrics - as MrH says it is YWJ500201.
There are two different part numbers for the single 13-pin electrics, but there are related to two different markets (US/Canada etc and Europe) - they have always been valid and not superceeded by any new part numbers.
What I mean is that I don't see how the electrics can be from an earlier model as there don't seem to have ever been a change in part number.
As far as the PDC sensors 'bonging' with the towbar attached, I'm guessing that if you installed the electrics yourself, then you didn't get the towbar function activated in the car.
This would disable the rear sensors automatically once you've plugged something into the electrics socket.
Another possibility is that you've fitted some other/bigger type of tow hitch (as opposed to the detachable one) and this is what is causing the PDC sensors to beep even when you don't have anything attached to it.
Hope this helps 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

It took the dual 7 pin electrics off my 55 plate D3 and fitted to my 09 plate. I got the dealer to enable, so that you dont get the reversing sensors active when electrics plugged in (as the 09 doesnt have the parking sensor switch on the dash anymore). Not had any unwanted BONGS.

Femund,
I guess it's because yours is a HSE with front PDC too.
In this case, the PDC button is still fitted to the switch panel 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Thanks for the replies, Guys, just to clarify yes the towbar function has been have been activated by the dealer.
The reversing sensors dont activate every time the trailer is on but have noticed it cropping up whenever I back into my drive ,which is a sharp r/hand reverse. This coincides with the trailer handbrake coming close to the inner r/hand sensor, maybe thats faulty?
My dealer is adamant that there was a change on the electrics, but couldnt tell me when
Spoke to Nene today, who also said the same......
Maybe TLO could give a definitive answer on that one.
As for the bonks.......
