Tow Bar Electrics Questions

Bought the electrics of TLO recently and installed this morning. Not quite the 30 minute job everyone said Whistle . 2 questions.

First was the bit of wiring the goes through the bumper quite hard to place where said on the install guide for others? Seemed a b*gger to get it along the top of the bumper Question

Second whats the difference between the white and black socket Embarassed

Thanks

The wiring loom should run along top of bumper without difficulty, the hard bit is pushing the little white plug things in to hold it there...an extra finger joint helps otherwise use cable ties to keep it out of the way of the dogs dangly bits.

The black socket (12N) is for road lights etc

The grey/beige socket (12S) is for caravan/trailer interior power (fridge, battery charger etc) and trailer reversing lights.

Thanks, when I went under the bumper on that side there was a large metal piece, swinging like a pendulum just by the exhaust. It seemed to say from the diagram that you had to push the wire above the metal pendulum, found that bit very tricky Confused I doing something wrong?

If I remember correctly the big pendulum weight is in front of the rear bumper cross member on the nearside. The wiring loom from the sockets should run along the top of the bumper cross member to the hole leading up to the nearside lamp cluster. If you feel along the top of the bumper you will find one or two (can;t remember which) holes predrilled for the little white pushy things. Assuming you have the loom connected now the hard bit is pushing the white thingy wotsit(s) into the hole. If that fails use cable ties but make sure the loom is safely out of the way of the weights to avoid chaffing.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck
