Tow bar help required please

I've sent the afternoon fitting my tow bar electrics and building my Thule bike rack.

Stood back and looked proudly at my handiwork and thought I'd test it all out...

I bought a secondhand towbar some time ago from the forum, I've had it on the car a couple of times before but today I just can't get the darn thing on.

Is the lock supposed to be retracted when the keys are in and it's off the car? The lock is sticking out and I can't get it into position. It's driving me mad having done all the hard work and not being able to put the ruddy tow bar on, or is there just a knack to it?

Thanks... It just seems quite stiff, don't know if this is normal, might send off for new lock.

Lay it on it's side and give it a good dose of WD40 down the barrel.
See if that loosens it up before getting another lock.

BTW, Good on you [well for a girlie] for doing all that work. Thumbs Up

Well that's my face well and truly battered next time i see you

Rolling with laughter

It didn't exactly go swimmingly!!

My spare wheel winch has jammed so I couldn't remove the wheel completely out of the way. I have no idea how to attach all the clips behind the counter weights or where to fix the last clip. And after I'd put the light cluster back in place I realised I hadn't fixed the foam pads around the connectors, so I'll have to take that back out tomorrow.

I lost one finger nail and have lots of scratches around my wrists... but other than that... job done!

Well I've had a go at that tonight... and now the tow bar is much easier to get on and off... infact I don't seem to need the key at all. I'll just get the new lock to be on the safe side. Is it easy to change?
