Tow electric problems
Trailer brake lights won't function. After 2 hours of changing bulbs and checking connections, I gave up. Checked D3 tow fuses and all well. Took trailer to autoelectrician who pronounced the trailer healthy but there is a problem wiith the car. Seems to be no power to the brake light fuse.
These are dealer installed electrics with no previous problems.
Anything I should check before taking in for a dealer check?
Thanks, BCP

have you checked this with a meter (the ignition needs to be in pos 2 I think and the brake pedal depressed to have power at the trailer brake fuses). there is a connector to the trailer fuses try that or try the connector above the brake pedal. I assume your brake lights on the D3 are working so no need to check the fuse in the CJB (or are they ?)

Yes power checked with a meter. It is a bit strange as they were working until a week ago. According to the manual there don't seem to be any other fuses apart from the tow electric fuses.
Just one possibility, if there is power at the socket it is probably just a poor connection between the pin and the receiver. Try gently opening the pin up and cleaning the outside with some fine emery and also cleaning the inside of the corresponding receiver. Switch cleaner would also help.

fuse 15 in the CJB is for the brakes, if your brake lights work then it is ok. have you checked for continuity to one of the brake lamps to fuse 1, green with a purple stripe as there are a couple of splices in that cct.

I wondered about that and planned to get under the car this am but deluge prevents this. If it's not an obvious fraying our loose connection at the tow fuse box it will need to go back.
