Tow Pack Questions

We had (another) half day at LRE in Dunkeld yesterday.

The wife wanted to get the lowdown on attaching a trailer to the towbar (she's buying a horsebox) so the instructor looked at our (MY12) D4 and talked her through it. All fine.

However, he reckoned we should have two of the orange towbar keys (we only have one) and that the dealer should also have supplied a 7 pin adaptor for the factory fitted 13 pin electrics.

Can any other MY12 owners who specced the towpack confirm ?

Defiantly 2 keys but adaptor is probably down to dealers goodwill

If you are having problems with the adaptor to convert your 13pin electrics to fit your seven pin trailer plug, have a look at this item number on Ebay >>> Item number: eBay Item No. 250928929539

I bought one and they are great to be able to use the standard seven pin plug - and they ate cheap!

Kingofthesparks - where is the second or spare orange towbar key located ? I'd better check the car before I go to the dealer tomorrow demanding they order it for me !!

They've already ordered the 7pin connector - remains to be seen if that'll be down to ggodwill or will be charged....

when I picked my D4 up, one key for the towbar was in the lock and the other was cable tied just under the ball itself.

Yep, that's what I got same as Woody. Cable tie round the ball (could be painful!)

I too don't think the adaptor is LR supplied and I don't really see why dealer should supply it either. You'll do well if they give you that Very Happy

Did anybody get a bag for the towball (for stowage when removed) and the red plastic blank. I didn't, though did nick the bag from my trade in car and was eventually given a second hand blank. The dealer told me that 'they don't do them anymore' but I find that very hard to believe.
I have had numerous removable balls fitted and all came with bag and blank.
Did get two keys though.

Got 2 keys with mine. Red plastic blank was plugged into the receiver (someone nicked mine on my previous car), but no bag. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
