for that sort of weight I wouldn't be trusting the detachable on it's own Shocked

If you absolutely have to then make sure the tow bar is connected perfectly and it working as it should. There have been a few of these failing due to corrosion in the receiver (there was a member on here recently who totally lost a caravan)

Have you had the tow bar recall inspection done?

The short answer is yes it is up to it.
However there have been a number of posts about tow bars coming out and the trailer becoming isconnected from Disco as a result. LR did a recal on the detachable tow bar and stated that it is capable but for "Regular or frequent towing" a fixed one is more suitable.
Personally I have towed a large twin axle caravan all over France and the UK with a D3 and D4 both with detachable tow bars fitted and had no issues, but the tow bar was fully inserted and I did fit the plate that is available on the forum to stop any movment. Whistle

Search results here for Towbar Plate

I think that any towbar, detachable or not, show be inspected regularly and maintained to be in good condition, and if it is all in order, undamaged and not corroded, it should be fine to use for whatever it is rated for.

If you have a detachable towbar, remove it when not in use, and keep both it, and the hole it fits into, clean and oiled to help prevent corrosion. Ensure that the locking mechanism works effectively and securely. Check for any unexpected play or movement when installed.
