Which part number for towing electrics would fit a 2010 D4?
There seem to be pre and post 2013 but I can not find good info which pn was used on pre 2013 models

No, there’s also 13 pin. VPLAT0012 (Rest of World, I’m guessing) and VPLAT0013 (North America)
On lrcat look at the diagram and click the other tow bar electric reference number. 
The site itself is excellent and my go-to guide for almost any “hmm, what do I need” kind of query.
Edit: if you’re wondering how I know ..13 is for NAS - I cheated and looked up the part number on Rimmer Bros site. The description says USA and Canada. Meanwhile ..12 says European style.
