Do the backing plates need replacing as disks are bigger?

Australia

Get better brakes on the caravan/trailer - D3 brakes are fine with a properly set up caravan with good electric disk brakes.

Let the trailer brakes look after the trailer and the car brakes look after the car.

well the caravan does have stability control as I had to have my tow bar electrics changed cause of electric stability brakes on it plus I want better brakes on the car while towing for when I’m up and down mountains in France as they can over heat

Before doing the V8 upgrade, make sure your wheels are 18" or above" or the new discs wont fit!

I tow trailers between 750Kg and 3.5t a lot and I did the V8 upgrade and it does help.

All done and what a difference
Only problem is I have a slight knock when breaking at low speed which has always been there but now louder and worse now the bigger brakes are on someone recon it’s the lower wishbones As knocks if I dab the brakes

May be the anti roll bar bushes.
Is your brake fluid up to date?- can be a killer through overheating if contaminated by moisture through age Shocked
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Nope.

The shields are the same for both v6 and v8.

Only things that change are calliper carriers and discs.

Pads, callipers, bolts, sensor cables, fixing kit/pad clips ..... all the same

I have no knock (probably only thing I don’t have) so must be mechanical your end.

My braking is pleasingly quiet, smooth and scary!

Knock when braking was there before just amplified now with better brakes think it needs new lower wishbones
