The seller is saying they have to be individually coded. Can this even be done with iid tool?

OK, so they are dodgy ones as this was the same type of message I got from the seller of my first set. They dont need to be coded. (I'm guessing an ebay seller?) Push for a return and refund, then go get some "proper" ones

I seem to recall this guy on ebay was OK:

Genuine LR TPMS valves do not need coding.
There are 2 types:

- LR066378
- LR070840

I think the first one is the one you should have. As I understand it the two are not interchangeable between vehicles of different model years.

Mine are LR070840’s

Or at least that what I ordered and was told they were genuine land rover parts.

Thats part of the problem, the "uncoded" ones in most cases are copies. They have all the right markings, part numbers and LR logos, but just dont work - been there, got the bank account scars of having wheels on and off and valves swapped, tested, refitted.

In the end gave up and found some genuine, and no problems since. What year is your D4?

I think LR066378 was the ealier ones superceeded by LR070840.

Mine is a MY16, but I tell you what, heres 2 chioces:

1) I have a known good TPMS valve here - its a FW93 1A159 AB - which I think was the LR066378 part number but when I check the VDO site its says its the equivalent for either of the LR part numbers. If its the right part for your car you can try that.

or

2) if you can wait until next week you can borrow one of my 21's with TMPS fitted, stick it on and drive round and see if your car will pick it up.

Thanks,

I still have the valves that I removed, only took them out as the car is 7 years old and every few months I get a TPMS error and I thought I’d put new sensors in.

OK, so option 3 (maybe as never tried this) - try taping your old valves tightly to a wheelspoke on each wheel and go for a ride round - the system might pick them up but show as 4 flat tyres (as they wont be undr pressure)

It might be a way of proving if its definately the "new" valves you bought.

Don't even think they need to be taped to the wheels - just have them in the car

taped them to the wheels no joy.

I'm going to see if they can be programmed, if not sending them back.

I've had / got this problem too. Got a set of genuine (?) TPMS valves from eBay that start with the part code GX63 and the TPMS.says system fault and doesn't show anything.

Previous valves worked fine and tyres only swapped due to changing wheels over to a spare set I had.

If it helps MY16 D4

On my MY16 I've got 2 sets of wheels, 20 inch for summer and 19 inch for winter, Both fitted with genuine TPMS valves and vehicle recognises different valves when wheels are changed over. Second set of wheels were take offs from another Land Rover and therefore definitely genuine.

There's at least two different part codes kicking around... Any ideas on the differences

My understanding is that the 2 part numbers are:

- LR066378
- LR070840

The first number was fitted to earlier vehicles, the second number to later ones. Not sure when the change happened but MY16 should be the later part number.

My mobile tyre guy has a device of sorts that he described as "it can enable copy tpms valves to work with factory systems" I can't remember exactly which one he has as he didn't need to use it on my tyres as I had genuine TPMS valves but it was similar to this...

GX63 is a Jaguar code, not a Land Rover code. Shouldn't be too much of a problem though.
