Traction control versus diff lock |
|
Stupid question - but I assume that traction control cannot operate when the diffs are locked? Can't quite get my head around it though

Traction control is independently controlled on each wheel, diffs locked or not.

2 things:
1. If you would have lockers in both axis you would not need traction controll.
2. The difflocks in a D3 don't lock 100%. So TC still works.
Traction controll needs a certain wheel speed (7 km/hr I believe) Difflock works also below that. Roel

Thanks - that answers my question, I couldn't quite get my head around how TC would work on what was effectively a solid axle...

When a car has independent suspension the official description is Rear Drive Assembly or Front Drive Assembly. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

But if the diff were fully locked then it would be behaving like a solid axle, even though there is no axle in there - if you get my point.
Well I knew what I meant

So when locked I suppose you would have Locked the drive in the drive assembly In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Unnecessary quote removed
You mean to tell me I don't have diff locks either?? Should I be engaging the drive assembly locks??? Jeez, that rolls of the tongue, eh? Maybe another acronym required - DAL's anyone?

No that thingy somewhere between the rear wheels is still called a diff (I think) So you could still call it a diff lock. I have one but as it is an option you might not have it.
You will have something like that below your seats in the transfer case (is that called that way?)

Yes LR still calls a diff a diff Roel
