Transferbox Calibration?
Hello all,
had a 4 wheel alignment done yesterday and since then I'm getting a lot of clunking from the drive train at low speed with the steering close to full lock. A bit of forum searching seems to suggest that calibrating the transfer box clutches might be a solution. I have tried the procedure that involves holding the throttle and the range switch for 5sec but can't get that to work. So is a transfer box calibration my best course of action or is there something else I should be looking at?
a transfer box reset procedure thats a bit more involved than the one you have used..

I've been searching but not turned up anything different than the following (which I can't get to work):
Calibration can be carried out using the service tool or by following this procedure:
* Switch ignition to position II without the engine running
* Select automatic or manual transmission neutral
* Depress the throttle pedal fully
* Press and hold the range change switch for 5 or more seconds to allow calibration to start
* When the calibration is heard to start, the switch and throttle pedal can be released
* Upon adopting high range, start the engine and wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in high range is done.
While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
* Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
* Start engine
* Perform a range change to low range. Wait 30 seconds while the first calibration of the clutch in low range is done.
While this calibration process is in progress, no shifting is accepted
* Switch ignition off and wait 15 seconds
* Range and clutch calibration is now complete.
It did work on my D3...
I'm not sure what difference it made....but Lille a pillock I did this ecpxpecting the vehicle to morph into something else..

Calibration of transfer box has fixed the clunking noises - many thanks to forum member Lost For Words for assistance.

Sorry to bring up an old post but I have a clunking at low speed around 25mph and then 35mph. This was experienced after the last service which was a major service. All discs, pads and shoes were done followed by 4 wheel alignment. At first it felt like there was some drag and maybe a brake component was sticking but all of the brakes have been ruled out as I have replaced the suspect calipers and made sure the parking brakes are properly adjusted. Went through an MOT without an issue.
